How to fix a lsass.exe problem when booting XP from an install CD?

How to start installing windows XP when the install CD has loaded some files but a small window appears and its first line says: lsass.exe Unable To Locate Component. (Outside the small window there is a list of five steps showing the first three as already checked but the fourth and fifth steps, INSTALLING WINDOWS and FINALIZING INSTALLATION respectively, never get checked and done. There is also the message: SETUP WILL COMPLETE IN APPROXIMATELY 39 MINUTES, but the 39 does not get counted down and the SETUP never gets done)
