Writing advice needed, is this cliché/easy to see coming?

Ok, so I'm writing a story where characters are picked off in a series of mini games and this is the scenario I am proposing:
A character who is extremely lucky losing and being killed in a gambling mini game.
I have how it would happen planned and I think it would be extremely ironic for her to die this way.

My only question is if this is so ironic that it's easy to see coming.
