How does Golding present Piggy's death as a vital and symbolic moment?

The name of the novel the question is based is called 'Lord of the Flies'. Wiliam Golding is the author of the novel. If possible, please could you mention the significance of the loss of the conch as well? Oh and if you can do so, please include the theorists, John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, perspective on the topic If you are wondering, the reason as to why I am asking this question is because I have an English Literature exam tomorrow and I really need help.
