Can I please get any type of insight about this question regarding home ownership/real estate?

I plan to see a lawyer within the next few months for my mother, meanwhile she is preparing every document she possibly can that can help with this situation. Situation is, my great grandparents built the house my mother is currently in. The house is paid for, only thing is taxes each year. The house was left to my great grandparents children which was 3 of them (my grandmother/my MOMs mother) is the only one that lived in the house after both the deaths. However, my great grand parents adopted my two uncles (my grandma children) therefore, they were considered her children and brothers. When my grandma died, the house was left to the remaining living children of great parents (with them being adopted by them). However, the two adopted uncles both lived out of town so agreed to let their baby sister take over the house hold (which is my mom). Unfortunately, her name is not on the deed. However, she has been here for about 15 years. Paying the taxes (which is in my uncle name, but she has all the receipts. Not to mention, the house caught a fire FIVE years ago (cause by my uncle that name is on the house visiting) left a grease fire. Estimating damage (materials) $10,000, that's without the labor prices. We started a renovation, by ourselves (WITHOUT HIS HELP)&could not finish due to not having the money financially so it looks like a half job unfinished still needing many renovations.I am willing to finally begin helping my mom bring this together but not if he can get it
