How do I remove a lingering chemical smell after my room was sprayed for bedbugs?

I had my room sprayed by an exterminator after signs of bedbugs a year ago. The bugs are gone, however I've had a strong chemical odor in my room since. I have tried everything from purchasing a new mattress, using baking soda, vinegar, and even carbonated charcoal to remove the smell ---all with no luck. I am worried that this is not normal and could have adverse health effects on top of the unpleasant smell. What can I do to get rid of the smell?
