Can a christian chaplain perform a secular wedding?

I am not religious, either is my fiance. I did go to a Christian school my entire life and used to sing in a Christian choir at church services 3 times a week for my first few years of university. There was a chaplain at that church who I got on really well with and he's the most wonderful man. I am now engaged and would love if he could perform my wedding, but as my fiancé and I aren't Christians /have no religion I don't know if I can ask him to marry us... I don't mind a psalm reading here or small reference to god there but I certainly wouldn't want a full christian wedding ceremony. Would it be unfair of me to ask him to marry us in a more secular way? Would a chaplain even be allowed to do that?
