I need a word to describe this scene

So I'm writing a book report on The Program by Suzanne Young and in the beginning people come in and take a depressed/suicidal girl out of a classroom and she's kicking and screaming because she doesn't want to leave and her blood gets all over the floor. Basically it's a mess. But the teacher and the students don't show any outside reaction. After the depressed girl is gone the teacher cleans the blood up with a mop like it's an everyday thing and the students just keep working. I need a word to describe how everyone in the room reacted.
