Please advise whether I am expecting too much?

Hi. I have been dating a guy for 2 years now but known him longer than this. He finished his 2nd degree last year and got a job in another town. He didnt take me and my daughter (not his child) with. Anyway, after 3 months he lost his job and came back living with his parents. They provide him with everything. A place to stay, food, internet, a car, fuel, anything he basically needs. Now... I have been seriously trying to take our relationship to the level of getting engaged. A few months back we had a break up but he begged me to take him back and promised that we would be engaged soon.... Still didnt happen. I am 2 years older than he is. I have told him many times that if he does not want to get married that our relationship will not work out as I am a very committed person who needs stability, especially for my daughter. He doesnt bother to get a job. I pay for things when we go out mostly. He is not really romantic and thoughtful though he willl always help IF I ASK. He has also previously hurt me physically. He really is a nice guy...but I am wondering if I am wasting my time here. We are the best of friends and I trust him with my deepest emotions. But I dont know what to do anymore.

From experience I will tell you...it will ONLY get worse once you get married. Please don't let this man freeload off you, as he is with his parents. If he has hurt you before, he may again. And he may not stop with you, but may harm your sweet daughter as well. Please think this over. God bless you!
