Can I delete WordPress plugin and reinstall without losing data?

Hi. I have a WordPress plugin wpdataTables which works great. It broke other day by pop-up that says email is incorrect format when I go to the options menu. This happened before and I either uninstalled and installed plugin, or deleted plugin and reinstalled. Not sure which one but does anyone know which method could fix this bugged out code without deleting my data?
