I don't know what to do about this crush I have on my best guy friend.

Okay so, my friend and I have been friends for 8 years, I was introduced to him by our mutual friend. Three years into the friendship I developed a crush on him, but wouldn't admit it ( even to myself ) because our mutual friend liked him and I thought he liked her back. A few of our friends have also had crushes on him ( and of course I helped them try to get him, even though I was hoping that would be me ), he's only "dated" two of our friends though ( I say "dated" because it was in seventh grade and didn't last long at all ). Anyways I had kind of given up on it until a few weeks ago when my best friend ( our mutual friend ) messaged him and asked if he liked me ( she has NO idea I like him, I deny it when she asks because I'm to shy to talk about my crushes with anyone ) and he said yes, but he doesn't want to date anyone until he gets a car. I'm happy that he likes me too, but I don't kknow how to let him know without telling him ( I absolutely cannot tell him unless he tells me in person first, stage fright ). And I can't talk to anyone about it because they'll get in the middle of things or tell my little sister ( who knows him and black mails me with stuff like this ). The point is I REALLY like him, I haven't dated anyone before, and I don't know what to do. I can't consult my best friend because she's awful at keeping secrets, but I'm also afraid she'll discourage him from asking me out. What do I do?

Easy, do what most people do when around someone they like... flirt, A LOT, that's the human way of hinting to someone that you like them and over time either he will realise or someone else will bring it to light. Just don't go overboard with the flirting ok?
