I have a bcom degree from Mumbai, India and I am currently studying for a certificate of achievement

I have a bcom degree from bombay. I am currently studying in california at a community college for certificate of achievment in speech communication. I want to know that suppose I do not get the certificate, can I still right that I have attended my community college for so many months on my resume. Will there be any major difference between writing, received a certificate of achievement in speech communication or by writing, studied speech communication for 6 months at my college, (if I do not get my certificate) on my resume ?
