Ive receieved an interim payment from a car accident does this mean they admit liability?

Someone ran in the back of my car 18 months ago they haven't admitted liability so my solicitors are taking her insurance to court, her insurance did pay me a interim payment about 8 months ago I was under the impression interim payments were when liability was taken?
