What are signs my moms boyfriend is abusing my dog?

My dog will be 7 in September(2014) she has never been shy or afraid of anyone. Recently she has been glued to me all the time. Like if my door is closed and she can't get in she claws and howls for me to open it(which she has never done)...this morning though got me wondering. He was up and in a bad mood. She didn't want to leave my room, not even to go outside to go potty. And when I finally was able to get her out of my room and finish getting ready for work she was under my feet. Which she never does. And as I was walking out the door I said bye to her like I do everyday and she sat there shaking and whining...I'm very worried about leaving her and I don't know what to do.

You should visit a vet.
As, according to your description there is not enough evidence to say that!

Leave a camera recording in the house out of sight. If you see him abusing your dog call the police on him and get him arrested for animal cruelty.

It could be the tone of voice he uses when he speaks to her

It could be abuse but really it sounds like separation anxiety. I like the idea about the camera, try that if there is no evidence of animal abuse it's probably separation anxiety.
