Looking for name and artist of a fine art piece circa 1942

The piece that I'm trying to find was created during WWII (if I remember correctly). The piece was predominantly red, with every shade and hue of red used with little other color to speak of. In layman terms, the best I can describe it is it appears to be a rolled up carpet or jelly roll (I know this sounds awful) with legs. It's a truly stunning piece representative of the goings on in WWII Germany. I've only seen the piece once, but will never forget it and would LOVE to find a print but need help.
