What does it mean when a guy looks at you differently than before?

I am a gay guy and am not out. Recently, I made a new friend through another friend. Since we met, I feel like he and I look at each other a lot when we're around each other. When we laugh, talk, or just when we're together, we're always looking at each other. I just thought maybe it was us coincidentally looking at each other. He is cute, charming, and funny. I didn't really look at him in any way until recently. But then last night, as we were leaving from an activity, he and I walk into the hallway together and suddenly he stops, turns around and looks at me for about 5 seconds. This hasn't happened ever to me or to us. He then quickly blurts out that he has to use the bathroom and rushes into the bathroom. Could this mean anything? It's kind of dumb, but I feel something happened there. Any ideas?

Well he could like you but wait until you know if he's gay or not until you make a move. Lots of guys get weirded out if a guy shows interest in them for some reason and there's no point in making a friendship awkward.
