Wi-fi devices have a "connect to" selection when you click "start" and look at the list on it's right column, click on "show all connections"... and you'll see any available wi-fi connections. If you are in a fast food or coffee joint, you'll see the name of the restaurant listed, then just click on it and follow the prompts. If it's a library you'll see the name of the library among the list. If At a friend's home with Wi-fi you'll need the key # to get in.
