Do I still need to use bepanthen cream on my tattoo when it's flaking?

I've had my tattoo on my upper arm now for 4 days,and been cleaning with warm water and mild soap,then applying bepanthen cream 3 times a day. I've been very careful with this process so far,and now the tattoo is flaking/peeling do I continue to put the cream on or switch to a moisturiser? It's very difficult to apply the bepanthen at this point now,as I'm rubbing is in(gently)tiny bits of skin is coming off. Any advice would be gratefully received,thanks.

Don't wash your tattoo, cover it in Vaseline and leave it alone!! Every tattoo you get is an open scar, and that scar needs time to heal. If it starts flaking off you could lose the colouring that you worked so hard for and have a shotty tattoo.
