Bunker Hill DVR alarm email does not work

This has been asked before but the answer still did not resolve my issue.
I have tried both gmail smtp and earthlink smtp. Earthlink does not require SSL Looks like gmail does. I have verified I had the correct dns for each as well I setup a windows mail account on my laptop and verified the correct port settings as well. It just does not seem like the unit is sending an email when the motion detection alarm fires off. Stumped in Denver
