10 miles

I cycle to school which is about 10miles,and I double the amount a stamina I need because I have to cycle up to really high hills...i was told I will loose 1 pound every 10 days,can I not loose less?

And....will cycling help me to reduce the size of my thighs and the size of my butt and hips?
