How do you make a tall fence out of evergreens?

We want to buy a house that backs up to the back side of an elementary school. The yard is 1/2 acre but sits close to the school which is a visual eyesore. Is there a way to use evergreen trees that grow quickly & TALL that would create a feeling of privacy, kind of like a green fence?
