If I'm late on my NC car tax payment will my car be towed?

I've been laid off and won't have the money until later this month. I am 2 months late but plan to pay it. Will my car be towed? Or anything bad that can happen. I'm not driving it but, I'm worried until I can pay it.

Vehicle taxes aren't collected the same way everywhere in NC. Some areas have license plate recognition software in the sheriff's vehicles (they give you a 2 day warning first) so it is wise not to drive it. Call your local tax office and explain. You will be charged interest on the money you owe.
