"Incredible minds multiplied by competent variety of skill equals integration of unity, excellence and sportsmanship" [Delay] No my friends, this isn't about what the Eagles did to the Giants last night. [substitute local team names is better]

This is about what our nation deserves from the political leaders of both parties. We have some incredible minds in Congress. We have lawyers, doctors and people of a wide variety of skills and many have excelled in their particular field. The things that are missing are unity and sportsmanship... That means realizing that members of the opposition are representing their constituency also and respecting that. It means understanding that none of us can win every time and when both sides try to do that, we all lose.

My friends, my statement to you today is that politics in our democracy is not about your party or even your ideology. Democracy is about compromise. Working together we can solve the country's problems but continuing the partisan food fight only insures nothing will be done.

Abraham Lincoln''s words said many years ago should still ring loud and clear in all of us, "A house divided against itself will not stand."
