I have a wireless router but my pc says no connections available

I have a Asus Notebook U50F Seris Intel core 13 processer 2 gigs ram 64 bit operating system windows 7 home premium. I am using a wired connection to write this but my wireless connection will not work.when I disconnect the wire I get the normal sign for wireless connection along with a red x on my taskbar. I click it and it says not connected. No connections are available. I have tried troubleshooting,entering ip addresses with the other things. I have tryed restarting my pc completly but nothing even reinstalling the atheroes adapter for wireless connection. please help. thanks

Look at the properties of the Atheros adapter. If it has "Bluetooth high speed - Enabled," try disabling it.

If that doesn't help, look at the security setup on your router and make sure the adapter and the router are using compatible features, passwords etc.
