What is a Dsl filter, and what does it do

Digital DSL data is transmitted on the same phone line with telephone voice but at a higher frequency. The filters are installed between the incoming phone line and all telephone devices like the phone, answering machines etc. but not on the computer equipment. The purpose is to remove the digital data to maintain good audio quality on the line.
