I felt for my close friend, I was scare of telling her because she was moving out of State. I did confess my feelings until the end before living by making her a gift with a letter in it. I know I have to show confidence and tell her directly, but I didnt want to change her plans cause of me, since she really wanted to go. So did I made a mistake by writing her a letter?

I don't think you did. If you really love her, then being distant from you won't affect your feelings for her. Just assure her that you don't want her to change her plans for you. It is good to have a long distance relationship.
