If you want to learn to read and write Spanish, a book will help. If you also want to learn to speak and understand the language, it is difficult to do that from a book. You learn to understand and speak languages by imitating the sound and that's not possible only reading the text.

The ideal situation is to have someone who is fluent in the language that you can have a "Spanish Only" rule for communicating with them. It's a struggle at first but that's the fastest way to learn to communicate verbally. If that isn't possible, do an internet search for, "Interactive Spanish Beginners" and choose the one that works best for you.

There are also books available online by searching, "Books Spanish Beginners."

First Spanish Reader: A Beginner's Dual-Language Book is available on e-commerce sites. you can buy it from there. One of my friend try to learn Spanish himself but he fail then he join Spanish Lessons In Surrey and now he can speak Spanish fluently. So, it's better to go for a professional course instead of learning it yourself.
