What are the bad and wrong things about a federal type of government?

Asked Mar 04, 2012
A federation of states is a good system of government in a large and diverse country like the United States where each state has the ability to customize their system to the needs of their area. The down side is that there is often duplication and territorial disputes between the state and the federal government so it is a less efficient way to deal with problems.

In a small country with a homogenous population, there is far less value in a federal system because a central government can manage it efficiently without the underlying divisions of a federation.
