Emachines E627 webcam issues. Help! Please!

I have an Emachines E627 laptop that came with a built in laptop. I know it should work fine, because I've used it before to take pictures with my cousin, but it recently stopped working. I looked at the device info and my computer recognizes it, and it says the driver is up to date, but whenever I click on it to open it the window opens, but it just shows a black screen. Why is it doing that? Is there some way I can fix it?

Hmm sounds like a hardware issue instead of a software. You'll probably have to get it replaced. If it's still under warranty then the company should fix it for free.

But you can always try to uninstall then reinstall the driver to see if that would fix it.

I second night_angel's recommendation on the driver. Their support page lists four different camera drivers for that machine. Make sure you're running the right one.
