Download and install the appropriate version of Microsoft Windows Movie Maker if you don't already have it.

Launch Movie Maker by navigating to the "Start" menu and selecting "All Programs" and "Windows Movie Maker."

Select your video then click "Import." Your video now appears within the Movie Maker program.

Click the video file. The video is subsequently highlighted in blue. Then drag-and-drop the video into the timeline.

From the "File" menu, select "Save Movie File." Then select "My Computer" if it's not already highlighted. Click "Next."

Enter the name of your video file. Choose where you want to save it. Then click "Next." A new window appears.

Select "Show More Choices." Then select "Other Settings." A menu box will appear. Select the desired setting. You can choose from: Video for Broadband (512 kbps), Video for Broadband (340 kbps), or Video for Broadband (150 kbps). The "Video for Broadband (150 kbps)" option will give the most compressed video.

Click "Next." Movie Maker automatically starts saving your video file. When it's done saving, click "Finish." You video is compressed and ready for upload.
