Am I entitled to any money?

My house was foreclosed and it had a lien on it that we had paid already. How do we find out if he was paid twice and if so are we entitled to be "reimbursed"? (The house sold for more than was owed)

The laws and rules on foreclosure vary from one state to the other. Some states require a hearing, some don't. My suggestion would be to first call the lending institution and ask for a statement of how the proceeds from the sale of your house were distributed. If they refuse to provide it, call the State Attorney General's office in the state where you live.

Also pay attention to what's going on in the mortgage industry now. So many of the mortgage contracts were bundled in vague asset classes that are now being questioned legally, there could be class action litigation in the future that you may be able to participate. The unwinding of all of that is still in it's infancy.
