Trying to scan an image on my HP Photosmart 3100 series to my MAC, pressing scan and nothing happens

It seems like I should be prompted for what files I want it to be...but nothing is happening on my mac?

If it works like scanners on a PC, you should have an icon on the computer (desktop or programs list) to initiate the software. If that isn't there, I'd reinstall the software that came with the scanner.
