My mom,s taxes were done wrong in 2008,should the tax prepares be responsible for the money owed

The people who did my moms taxes in 2008 messed up and now my mom owes .who,s responsible to pay it?

Morally should be, yes. Legally they are not though. If they were professionals, and it was a true error, they might be professional enough to help.
