What is the difference between a county shelter and humane society?

Hello, can someone tell me the difference between county shelters and Humane Society?

Also,
Are MOST shelters "kill" shelters, or no-kill (as the one near me is no-kill)?
Please give as many differences as possible, thanks!

The diference between a county shelter & a humane society is that a shelter captures animals without being told that there is something wrong with it but the humane society have a call reported that there is an injured or neglected dosg or animal who is despirately in need of help.

Good answer, I didn't know that, but it makes complete sense to me now that you mention it.
