I used glucose instead of sugar in a common homemade cake. The end result was far from sweetened why?

The problem I would say did not lie w the amount I used twice as much glucose what do you think was wrong?

Glucose isn't very sweet to start with, furthermore, heating it causes it to become less sweet. Sugar holds its sweetness when heated, that's how candy is made.
