I am getting a burning rubber smell from a Kenmore 90 washer

I replaced the coupler on a Kenmore 90 washer. When it got to the spin cycle it started making loud noises and started smelling like burning rubber. what is the problem?

Its the belt.

like everyone else... its the belt, if its brand new, go to where you baught it and get a refund. ive never had it happen to me, but ive watched a washer be put together. so, yeah.
