Do hibiscus trees go into hibernation in the winter?

I live in ND and took my hibiscus tree inside, all the leaves turned brown and fell off. Looks dead.

I live in NC, have a beautiful potted hibiscus that I put out on my front porch every spring. I bring it inside every fall and put it in a southern window where it can get plenty of light. The leaves will fall off if it isn't getting enough light. Also try to keep it from getting too hot. Mine blooms all winter long. Good luck.

I live in VA and left mine outside. It's died about a month ago.
