How to gain my thick hair back?

Okay, so 2 years ago and before those years I used to have thick hair. And I mean real thick hair. When I started year 7 in high school, I used to get tired to brush it and I always used to have a shower everyday and wash it. (Please don't judge, if I don't have a shower I feel disgusted and dirty, I like to keep myself clean). In year 8, I had to go to my country and the Heat was like hell. And there was dirty water not clean. After a week being there, my hair started to fall. A lot. And I was really upset. After coming back in November, I decided to cut my hair short. It felt healthy like that. But after I started to see it looked thin. I feel really uncomfortable about this. I think it's because I'm used to the heaviness of my head taking in the amount or maybe call it the weight of hair. My sister makes fun of me with thin hair. I'm 16 years old now. I've tried to crack an egg and make home remedies but it just won't work. Due to the fact that I am Asian, normally mothers would put oil on our hair but that does not help because it makes my hair fall more. I'm getting more stress about exams, and this. Does anyone actually know what to do, because any home remedies are either to make the hair shine or to grow faster. I just want my hair back. (I may sound childish in this matter) but it hurts me a lot when my sister pin points me having thin hair. And another question is that does the hair grow back slowly? Feel free to comment what you like. I'll be waiting :)

Thanks Asb
