Does ny state consider distance education as homeschooling?

I am looking to enroll a child (grade 8) into Enlightium Academy an online Private christian school. Now I know that some states may consider this a form of homeschool but I not quite sure about Ny. If someone could check this out and get back to me asap That would be wonderful.
