My dog is aggressive to anyone other than his owners. How can I cure this?

My dog is so loving and friendly with myself and my partner. However, the minute he is approached by a stranger he begins to growl and snap. I fear he may even bite and get himself into trouble. He gets even more aggressive when we have guests in our home and will not let anyone pet him. I’ve tried getting strangers to approach him whilst speaking in a soothing voice but he still growls and wards them off. How can I change this behaviour?

You can't do much to change it unless you're a professional dog trainer or something. If he doesn't like being around people and he's scared of them, then just keep people away from him and try to keep him calm.
