Shared hosting is like living in an apartment where you share a common space with your neighbors.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting is like living in a simplex or half-plex where you can customize everything to your own tastes.

now I am using windows hosting from "mywindowshosting(dot)com". its good for me.

VPS hosting is off course better then shared hosting but vps hosting is many times costly then shared hosting.

I am suggesting you a cheap and best shared web hosting provider http://www.webstation7.com who offers unlimited bandwidth, unlimited website hosting, unlimited disk space, 99.9% uptime guarantee, 24/7 support with their deluxe web hosting package. Here you can host any type of websites including very high traffic websites like ecommerce stores, social media sites, news channels etc.

They also offers website builder, ecommerce solutions, secure ssl certificate, spam free email and many more related services.

Shared hosting is like living in an apartment where you share a common space with your neighbors. You cannot customize anything but you share maintenance cost and responsibility with your neighbors. Shared hosting is the most commonly used method of hosting, and is used for customers who have chosen trial or low-cost hosting packages.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting is like living in a simplex or half-plex where you can customize everything to your own tastes. However, you still need to maintain your own area. Companies that deal with resource heavy applications and secured data most often use VPS.

On my view VPS hosting is best for a business as I am also using this from MyAsp.net.

VPS Hosting

VPS hosting is a server, with its own copy of operating system and allocated server resources, within a bigger server. VPS hosting comes with its own operating system and allocated server resources. A VPS one that is dividend so that has its own operating system, disc space and bandwidth in a data center server. Benefits of VPS Hosting are - Privacy, Customization, Control, Dedicated Resources, 99.9% Uptime, Fully Managed VPS, Reliable 24/7/365 Support.

Shared Hosting
A hosting service where a number of websites are hosted in a single server is called a Shared Hosting Plan. This means that all the resources of the shared server such as bandwidth, space, database, FTP accounts and email accounts are shared by a number of websites hosted by that particular server. In fact, there is no definite number of websites that a single server may host, the number could be in the tens, or the hundreds or even in the thousands. This sharing of the resources of a single server is the very reason why shared hosting plans are offered at affordably low and cheap prices. Aside from the resources mentioned above, you are also made to share with the computer processor, the memory and the maintenance costs of the server. Shared hosting plans are cheaper as compared to dedicated hosting and VPS which means that even websites for personal blogging and small businesses can afford it.

However, Shared servers are usually prone to hacking attacks. You may experience resource limitation as everybody else in the network uses the same CPU, memory and hard drive. Server may get swamped by requests or overloaded which might cause it to stop

Looking at the above disadvantages, it is recommended to choose VPS Hosting over Shared Hosting

Shared Hosting

Shared Hosting includes our Business Class Hosting Plans. Shared Hosting is very similar to living in an Apartment Complex. All residents are in the same location and must share the available resources with everyone. These may include such things as the pool, parking lot, and playground. In shared hosting, all accounts must share the available resources with all the other accounts on the server. These include CPU time, memory, and disk space. Want to compare shared hosting? Check out InMotion Hosting vs. HostGator.

VPS Hosting

VPS Hosting includes our 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB VPS Hosting Plans. VPS Hosting is similar to owning a Condo. While you still share things on the property, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining your own property and repairs inside the condo. There is also significantly fewer residents per building and assigned parking. On a Virtual Private Server, you are allotted resources that are not shared by everyone. The overall CPU time and memory are shared across all accounts on the machine, but at the same time, portions of those resources are always dedicated to each account. This allows for more power and flexibility than being on a shared account. For more information see the following PDF.

Shared hosting: In which your site shares one server with many other sites. It offers customers less bandwidth, management flexibility, and performance, but the hosts take care of all technical configurations, maintenance, and security.
VPS hosting: It is a technically superior solution in almost every single way. Technically, these servers are actually still “shared” environments (in as much as there will still be more than one user running on the same physical machine) but the technology used to assign resources and keep users separate is much more sophisticated.
