I suffer when I see others in pain, but I like the pain that it causes me. What does it mean?

I tend to be very compassionate towards others and am very empathetic. I suffer when I see others in pain, but I've realized I like the pain that it causes me. I'm kind of addicted to the emotional pain I get when I see others suffering, but I'd hate to seem like a terrible person. What does this mean? What does that make me???
