Mid-level health professionals that do not have to deal with mds?

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants are mid-level practitioners, but they have to deal with MDs continually. Please let me know some careers like this where you don't deal (ideally at all) with MDs. Do physical therapists have to deal with them? What about sonographers?.. It's a long story, but in a nutshell, I went to school with a lot of pre meds, and a lot of the people my extended family are doctors. Think what you like, but the truth is 90% of them are either greedy scum or egomaniacal a**holes with a God complex. I want a career where I can really make a difference and help patients (either directly or behind the scenes), but I don't want to deal with doctors.
