My htc desire eye phone wont turn on/charge?

It died last night while I was texting my friend (it was plugged in). it does that a lot so when I got home I plugged it in for the night. I woke up and it still wont turn on. the light or charging screen wont turn on either. i've tried blowing the charging port out and that didnt work. I am not using the original htc charger because it broke and we wont buy a replacement. the cord I use normally, however, does work and has no shortages. HELP PLEASE!!!!
