How can I stop being depressed about life and death?

I am 13, non-religious, and am the youngest of 3 children. Recently, my friend jokingly told me that I will die and that nothing I do matters. At first, I just pushed it away and joked around, but throughout the day, I started to fall into depression. My little bubble was popped, and now (3 weeks later), I just feel sad because every second that passes is just going away from me and I will never see it again. I feel like I am wasting my life, and I just want to do something or find some way to feel better :(

Also, a year ago my mom's kidney failed and she isn't in great condition. I am just really scared that when she dies, I will never see her again. My dad works in another state, so I only see him for a week, then he is gone for a week, so forth.

i suggest you do volunteer work, ask your teachers or go online and look. it will make you feel better because your helping people/animals that need it. im sorry about your mom, try to spend as much time with her as you can, i'm a christian so I believe that you will see your mom again in heaven.

I used to feel depression as you, here is a list of things I do to get rid of depression:

1. when I was too depressed to work, I will list my accomplishments.

2. running and swimming at the weekend.

3. Eat more foods which relate to release depression, such as fruits, vegetable, and fish.
