Ear problem, please help, lasted or a while

My mother is in her early 50 s, just over 2 months ago she described what felt like "water in her ears", when it persisted she went to the doctors and he determined that it was an ear infection and prescribed her antibiotics, She finished almost the full packet of antibiotics and it was still not improving, infact by this point her hearing was much worse and she said when she talks she can hear her voice extremely loudly, and if her heart is pumping very fast she can hear her heartbeat which is extremely annoying for her, I also had to raise my voice to talk to her so she could hear me. since this has happened she has visited another doctor and two specialists and so far the only thing they have done was put gromits in her ears. If you have any idea what this may be, or how I can help my mum improve her hearing it will be greatly appreciated as this has had a massive impact on her hearing and happiness. thank you

If the eustachian tube becomes blocked, fluid can build up. When this happens, infection can occur. A chronic ear infection develops when fluid or an infection behind the eardrum does not go away. ... An acute ear infection that does not completely go away.
