Is it safe to switch lights on that haven't been turned on for over 12 years?

I am viewing an empty cafeteria for sale which closed down 12 years ago. The lighting system inside has not been switched on since the day it was closed, although there is still power to the cafeteria. Is it safe to turn all the lights on after so long?

As long as youre sure nothing is broken, id say go for it, they probably wont work, but you can try, If they flicker or don't work, I would just call an electrician and have them come check to make sure its safe.
