2008 Mac Book Screen Glitching

"I have a 2008 mac book. Recently, it started glitching then freezing, then shutting off. Then it took a bit to get it to turn back on. After a few weeks of this, it broke completely and the screen is completely messed up (as in it glitches and nothing on the screen is working) I dont know what is wrong with it or how to fix it or if I just need to get a new Mac.
