Is it proper for mother in law to give her son (my husband) a gift that was given to her by his ex s

My mother in law gave my husband a framed art that was given to her by his ex wife years ago. My mother in law doesn't like me, but is fake and acts like she does when she's around me. I feel like she did this to try and cause problems. She doesn't know that I know it was a gift from his ex. It is a big framed piece of art and we live in a mobile home and don't even have a wall big enough to hang it on. Should I take offense to this. How should I handle it? His mother is very sneaky and conniving. She has an on going relationship with his ex and I feel like she just did this to get a laugh at my expense.

She can offer all she wants. You should express how uncomfortable it makes you feel having it around to your Husband. HE should give it back to her and she should understand. If she is not understanding, sell it and buy a gift you both like or just give it to the Salvation Army.
