How hard is to learn ASP.NET?

I have a plan to host a web site. so that getting knowledge now... searching many more at least I have an interest in myASP.NET. Some are saying asp.net is hard to learn. but I never to think like that.But have some fear so please tell me briefly it is correct or not.
