If a cop is acting unlawfully and threatening my life, or acting abusively without a proper cause

Can I kill him in self defense? Because I feel that it's ridiculous that it seems a cop can just murder you because they would like to and you can't defend yourself. And if a police officer is trying to injure or kill me without reason in accordance to the situation or just because I look suspicious, if I get the opening, I'd most likely shoot. I can't just let him murder me. But is deadly force in the case of self defense against an officer illegal?
